Surgery was Feb 2 and came home yesterday.  I am feeling a bit wiped out, and minimal pain, just headaches!  Maybe lack of caffeine?  The worst part was the bed I had to sleep in at the hospital.  OMG.  I was so ready to go home to my own bed.  Ahhhhh!  My own bed!!   Thanks for all your prayers.  They worked!

Welcome home, Linda! I'm so glad to hear your surgery went smoothly and you are on your way down the path of recovery. The withdrawals from caffeine are brutal. I went through it a week ago...oy vey! It was rough. Good news is the headaches go away after the 3rd day or so. Hang in there and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi there Amanda,

I am trying to cut down on the coffee.  To no avail though.  I bought some decaf and realized for the first time, which sounds completely dumb, I realize, that I will not be able to pour a cup of anything in quite a while.  Do you happen to know when a cup of coffee will be an option again.
Hopefully I will just get off the stuff.  One more addiction down.

Take Care,  Pam

Hi Pam,

I went cold turkey on cutting the caffeine. It was rough the first 2-3 days but after that it's been a piece of cake. I took a few Tylenol every 6 hours until I got over the hazy head ache stage.  I'm not sure when you will be able to have coffee gain. I plan to stay off of caffeine from now on. Unbelievably enough I have more energy now then I did before.

You can do it. Just set your mind to it, take some Tylenol, and sleep it off!

Good Luck,
Amanda

Pam, regarding coffee?  I know people that have had successful RNY surgery and they do have coffee  REAL coffee, but maybe just one cup not several like I am used to.  I would not even try it until 6 months out, though.  I plan on making 'coffee flavored' protein smoothies soon.

I had to stay two days, since that is the normal for Dr.Suh.  I am filling pretty good, today.  I did 5 minutes on my treadmill, too.  Thanks for all your well -wishes and prayers!

Well done!  The caffeine headaches will clear up and then you'll be fine.

I look forward to hearing about your success!
